Governor Richard L. Scott - State of Florida

MIAMI, Fla. (April 15, 2014)-The Florida Customs Brokers and Forwarders Association has announced that it will honor Florida's Governor Rick Scott, at its 55th Annual Installation Dinner. Honorees are chosen for their foresight and dedication in positively influencing the advancement of the logistics industry.

Governor Scott is responsible for fully funding the $77 million shortfall for the port dredging project as well as investing in infrastructure projects that have long-term permanent payoffs. Accordingly, the logistics industry agrees that he has created economic opportunities and jobs for generations to come. The FCBF and its members are thankful to Governor Scott and the Florida State Legislature for their support in proliferating international trade and commerce.
As promised during his campaign, Scott is focused on creating jobs and turning Florida's economy around. Throughout his tenure, he has served as a staunch advocate to reform laws and regulations that impede international business and trade. Under the Governor's purview the Florida Department of Transportation has embarked upon a uniform state freight and logistics plan. This initiative will ensure more seamless and efficient cargo plan all over the state of Florida.
Scott's father served in the 82nd Airborne during World War II and then was a city bus driver and then a truck driver. His mother worked as a JC Penney clerk. At times the family struggled financially, and when Gov. Scott started public school, they lived in public housing. In high school, Gov. Scott met Ann, and the high school sweethearts have been married for 41 years and have two married daughters, Allison and Jordan, and three grandsons, Auguste, Quinton and Sebastian.
