The Dominican Republic has grown to be Florida’s SIXTH Largest Trade Partner, as
well as FOURTH
to MIAMI-Dade. The country has been an exporter of
coffee, sugar and tobacco, adding, in recent years, tourism,
telecommunications and free trade zones for a variety of industries,
making this sector the largest employer. In 2014, US$70 million were
generated as a result of February’s Florida trade mission to the DR.

exports, contributing 14% to the gross domestic product. With 11
industrial parks is considered “the tailor to the United States" and
"Cigar capital of the world". La Vega at the center, and
Puerto Plata to the north, are other most productive provinces in
the country, also offering great opportunities for commerce.
